Unprecedented floods hit South Yorkshire
In 2007 thousands of people were forced to abandon their homes and businesses as the River Don topped its banks – following some of the heaviest rainfall the UK has ever seen.
We had previously completed hundreds of flood damage repairs as an experienced insurance contractor, so were ready to act straight away.
Realising the distress and upset damage to a property can cause, we were on-site immediately, knowing that the first 24 hours after a flood is critical in shaping how a property recovers.
We had surveyors quickly implement our disaster management plan to mobilise resources – whilst liaising with our customers, insurance companies and local councils along the way.
The pumping out of excess water and sewage began as soon as the flood water started to recede. As did the installation of industrial dehumidifiers and air movers to thoroughly dry the properties. Our cleaning operatives were sent in to sanitise the properties and then our repair teams took over to return them back to pre-incident condition.
The project was extensive lasting over 12 months – restoring the balance to over 135 properties.
We were proud to deliver this work to our community and the feedback we received from local businesses and homeowners was outstanding.
